Over the years we have seen a lot of characters from television shows and movies being recast, with the original star leaving the project and being replaced by a new actor or actress. While some of these changes have not really worked and seem to have been bad choices, there are others that have worked very well, with the new star impressing more than the old.
Back in 2003, the hit television series The O.C. aired for the first time and, in that new show, we were introduced to a series of new characters, played by a whole host of stars that we had never really heard of. In that first season of The O.C., we were introduced to the character Kaitlin Cooper, who was the younger sister of Marissa Cooper, with this young character being played by the unknown actress Shailene Woodley.
The Shailene Woodley version of Kaitlin Cooper appeared in six episodes of season one of The O.C., before the character was then sent off to boarding school by her mother. We did not see Kaitlin in season two of The O.C., with the character making her return in season three of the show but, Shailene Woodley had been replaced by the unknown Willa Holland.
Since The O.C., Shailene Woodley has gone on to become one of the biggest and most sought after actresses in Hollywood, putting in some very impressive performances in some fantastic movies along the way. Meanwhile, Willa Holland has also enjoyed a successful acting career and currently plays the role of Thea Queen in the hit The CW series Arrow.
