While there is always a lot of talk and attention about the gender inequality in Hollywood, we do not get to hear so much about things that are happening in that area from Bollywood, which has also had its fair share of discrimination over the years. However, there are some Bollywood stars who are more than happy to discuss what is happening with women in Bollywood and how they are combating such issues.
Actress Sonam Kapoor has been working in Bollywood for a number of years now, proving that she is one of the most talented stars in the business. Sonam has now given her views on the gender discrimination in Bollywood admitting that, while it is still there, she can feel that there are more female starring movies hitting big these days.
Kapoor told Digital Spy, "There is discrimination, but we also have a Zoya Akhtar, Farah Khan, Ekta Kapoor is the biggest producer in the country, my sister's a producer. I feel like in a lot of ways, especially with the kind of films that have done so well lately - Queen and Piku did so beautifully - and I feel in a lot ways we are leaning towards a lot of commercial female-centric films that are doing so very well. It's a great time for women in cinema."
As far as her own acting career is concerned, Sonam Kapoor has a number of new movie projects lined up for the coming years, including the movie Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which sees her starring alongside Salman Khan. The movie still has a couple more weeks of shooting left, before the movie hits the big screen in November.
