It really is impressive to see what happened with the Deadpool movie, which looked like it was dead in the water and was never going to happen, until that test footage made its way online, a huge fan campaign built up to get the film made, and Ryan Reynolds did everything he could to get the studio to agree to make the R-rated movie. That led to the Deadpool film getting its big release and becoming even more successful than anyone could have imagined.
Following the success of the Deadpool movie, many fans around the world have been calling for Ryan Reynolds to bring his popular character into the X-Men universe and have a crossover movie with our favourite mutants. While some feel that it could be difficult to make it work, it seems that we could actually see this happening sooner rather than later.
X-Men mastermind Bryan Singer has been talking about the possibility of having Deadpool appear in one of the new X-Men movies, when he told Variety, "Now that we’ve altered the timeline [with 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past], there are endless possibilities.
He added, "If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently. When you drop them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it."
Do you think adding Deadpool to the X-Men movies would work, or do you think they would need to tone the character down so much that he would lose what makes him special?
