When somebody decides that they are going to try to make a name for themselves in the acting industry, there are always a number of directors who they dream about working with, with some of the stars actually achieving this dream. One of the top directors in Hollywood today would have to be the very impressive Terrence Malick, who has become renowned for his unique way of shooting his films.
Well, Hollywood superstar Ryan Gosling got to finally work with Terrence Malick on the new movie Song to Song, which was actually filmed a few years back and is now finally ready for release. Terrence is a director who likes to shoot a whole variety of scenes and angles, before putting it all together in the editing room, and Ryan has recalled what it was like to work on the movie with the director.
Gosling explained, "We made it maybe four years ago now or something and so many things happened, it was such a unique process. But it's a Terrence Malick film! My character went through so many different incarnations. And that's kind of the interesting thing about the way Terrence Malick works. He's sort of finding it as he goes along. We all wanted to have this experience of working with Terrence Malick."
He added, "He's one of the few filmmakers who you could watch a few seconds of his movie and you know he made it. That's very rare, and working with him is a completely different way of working. He's always looking for something and you're happy to help him if you can! Every day was different, and it was a completely unique experience. All you can do is leave everything you thought you new behind and just go on this journey."
As well as working with director Terrence Malick on Song to Song, Ryan Gosling also got to share the big screen with fellow Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender, Rooney Mara, and Natalie Portman, among others. Song to Song recently featured at the South by Southwest Film Festival and is officially released today (March 17).
