While there are some stars in Hollywood who do acting for the love of it and are not really too bothered about winning any awards, it is the dream of the majority of people who get into the business to get their hands on an Oscar. Some of the greatest stars who have ever graced the big screen have failed to win an Academy Award, while there have also been some average stars who have managed to put in the performance of a lifetime and walk away with a statue.
Australian actress Nicole Kidman has been working hard in Hollywood for decades now, appearing in plenty of different movies along the way, showing just what a talented actress she is. During the course of her acting career, Nicole has been nominated for three Oscars, winning her one and only statue for The Hours. Kidman has now landed her fourth Oscar nod for her performance in the new movie Lion, and Nicole has admitted that she is delighted with the nomination.
Kidman explained, "I'm so happy. Really, just delighted. The strangest thing is that the older I get, the more excited I feel. It's such an honour to be recognised for this film - a project which was such a heartfelt achievement for everyone involved - and a movie that is obviously so close to my heart. Importantly, I also want to thank the Brierley family for putting themselves in such a vulnerable place and sharing their story with the world."
Nicole Kidman has her work cut out for her if she wants to win though, as the other actresses who have been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category are, Naomi Harris for Moonlight, Michelle Williams for Manchester by the Sea, Viola Davis for Fences, and Octavia Spencer for Hidden Figures.
