Hollywood superstar Michelle Williams has become one of the biggest and most sought after actresses in the business, and she enjoyed a romance with fellow Hollywood star Heath Ledger before his death. The couple also had a baby together and Michelle has been a single mother ever since, admitting that she loves nothing more than being a mother to her 11-year-old daughter.

Williams explained, "I think when you become a mother, it's sort of difficult to separate yourself from being a mother. Being a mother is not only who I am in my relationship with my daughter, but it's a part of the kind of work that I wanna make and the relationship with the person that I want to be for her. So there is really no area of my life that is untouched. It's at the center of everything that I do."
Being a single mother and raising her daughter on her own is certainly something that helped Michelle Williams to prepare for her role in her latest movie Wonderstruck, as that is the exact character that she plays in the film. Michelle said herself, that already having that understanding of being a single mother had helped her in her preparation for the role.

Williams added, "What I find most interesting about motherhood in this film, and everything that I make about being a mother, is being responsive to the child that you are connecting to. Personally and professionally, the great [trick to] working with children and knowing children is listening to children, and responding to who they are. Not your idea of a perfect child, not who you want them to be, but who they really are."
Michelle Williams is currently in Cannes, where she is promoting her new movie Wonderstruck, which sees her sharing the big screen with the likes of Julianne Moore and Cory Michael Smith.
