When it was suggested that we were going to get to see Batgirl appearing on the big screen in the near future, with a few people suggesting that she could well pop up in the Gotham City Sirens film, talk quickly turned to which actress the fans wanted to see starring in the role of Batgirl. While there have been plenty of debates and discussions about the Batgirl casting, it seems that it is actually the director of the movie who has made the biggest headlines.
Moviemaker Joss Whedon gets a lot of credit for making the Marvel Cinematic Universe the success it has become, thanks to his work not only on the Avengers movies, but also helping out on other Marvel projects along the way. So it came as a bit of a shock to a lot of people, when it was announced that Joss Whedon was the man who has been tasked with bringing Batgirl to the big screen, with many DC fans feeling that this could be just what was needed.
But what does the Marvel Studios President think about Joss Whedon jumping over to their big rivals? Well it seems that Kevin Feige is actually fine about, even going as far as to admit that he is looking forward to seeing what Joss can do with the Batgirl film. Kevin said, "[Joss] called. A couple months ago, which he didn't have to do and was super cool of him and super nice of him. And we couldn't be more supportive. We want to see a Joss Whedon Batgirl film be awesome."
Now that we have Joss Whedon on board to write and direct the planned Batgirl movie, surely the next logical step is to cast someone in the lead role of Batgirl. We cannot wait to see who lands the role, but who would you like it to be?
