Is there anything more exciting in the entertainment industry that the awards season in Hollywood? First we get the excitement of trying to guess which stars will be nominated for which awards and then, when the awards ceremony comes around, we get to try to guess which stars will win which awards. With the 2015 Oscars just a few weeks away, we were recently given the nominees for this year ceremony and there was quite the British influence among many of the awards.
British actress Keira Knightley has been working in the acting industry for many, many years now and has given us some very impressive performances in some very interesting projects along the way. We have known that Keira is a very talented actress for a long time now and her talent got the recognition it deserved back in 2005, when she was nominated for the Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for her performance in Pride and Prejudice, missing out on the win, which went to Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line.
Now though, Keira Knightley finds herself in the running for an Oscar for the second time, this time in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category, for her role in the movie The Imitation Game, which saw her starring alongside fellow Brit Benedict Cumberbatch who is also up for an Oscar. While it is a very difficult category to win, if Keira did finally get to take home an Academy Award, it would certainly be the long overdue recognition that her talent deserves.
The battle for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar is probably one of the toughest ones this year, with Keira Knightley battling it our with Laura Dern for Wild, Emma Stone for Birdman, Patricia Arquette for Boyhood, and Meryl Streep for Into the Woods. Which actress do you think deserves the Best Supporting Actress award?
The 87th Academy Awards will take place on February 22.
