There were a lot of mixed emotions when it was announced that actor Matt Smith had decided to quit as Doctor Who, with many people trying to guess who the new Doctor would be. When it was confirmed that Peter Capaldi would take over as the new Doctor, there were still a lot of questions that needed answering.
Now, with the new season set to premiere in just a few weeks time, actress Jenna Coleman has been teasing fans what to expect from the new season of the hit show and from the new Doctor. Jenna says that she has seen the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who and she says that it is much darker than ever before.
Coleman was chatting to the guys over at Empire magazine, when she told them, "I saw the first episode and it’s amazing how different it feels. It’s darker. The limits feel like they’re being pushed more in terms of the danger and the dread. It’s scarier, that’s for sure."
As well as talking about the new, darker Doctor Who, Jenna Coleman also went on to talk about what it was like to change from working with the old Doctor Matt Smith, to working with the new Doctor Peter Capaldi. Jenna says that writer Steven Moffat gave her some great advice on how to deal with the change.
Coleman added, "Steven said to me it’s like seeing your friend after a major operation and you kind of have to start all over again. It’s like a death without a death. The whole dynamic’s been thrown up in the air. What she soon realises is this Doctor doesn’t really know who he is either. "He’s an adrenalin junkie and his curiosity takes him to new levels of danger."
The new season of Doctor Who will premiere on Saturday, August 23.
