With Warner Bros. and DC working hard to catch up to what Marvel have done on the big screen, we are getting a number of new movies coming our way, with Suicide Squad among the most eagerly anticipated of them all. Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto takes on the role of The Joker in the movie but just how will his performance compare to those before him?
One of our favourite ever performances of The Joker on the big screen, was from Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson, who put on a great show in the 1989 Tim Burton movie Batman, which saw him face off against Michael Keaton as Batman. It is fair to say that the Jack Nicholson version of The Joker was quite camp but, nonetheless, he still managed to nail the performance.
Arguably the greatest ever performance from any actor in any comic book movie ever, has to go to Heath Ledger, who was absolutely sensational as The Joker in the hugely impressive 2008 movie The Dark Knight, which had Christian Bale as Batman. Heath's performance was so impressive that it won him the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. It was such a tragic shame that he was not with us to collect the award.
So, now we look forward to seeing what Jared Leto can bring us with his version of The Joker. We have already seen pictures, videos, clips and trailers, which give us an idea of what to expect and, with Jared being one of the most talented actors in the business, we expect that he is going to nail the role. We cannot wait!
Suicide Squad will hit the big screen on August 5, 2016 in both the US and the UK.
