The debate about Scotland's independence has been running for quite some time now and, whether you are from Scotland or not, it seems that pretty much everybody has an opinion on the matter. There are a lot of Scottish celebrities in the world, who have been voicing their opinions either for or against Scotland's independence and her we take a look at a few of those stars.
Hollywood actor Gerard Butler is one of the many stars who has been vocal about being all for Scotland getting its independence, recently saying, "I can't see any reason why Scotland shouldn't be independent. It's a different country with different attitudes, people and outlook, so why not?"
Other celebrities agreeing with Gerard Butler includes the likes of Trainspotting writer Irvine Welsh, fellow actors Robbie Coltrane and Alan Cumming, as well as stand-up comedians Frankie Boyle and Kevin Bridges. However, there are also plenty of Scottish stars who are against Scotland getting its independence.
Sir Alex Ferguson has recently stated, "Eight-hundred-thousand Scots, like me, live and work in other parts of the United Kingdom. We don't live in a foreign country; we are just in another part of the family of the UK. Scots living outside Scotland but inside the UK might not get a vote in the referendum, but we have a voice and we care deeply about our country."
And he is not alone either, as the likes of singers Susan Boyle and Sharleen Spiteri, as well as former Doctor Who actor David Tennant are all against the idea. Where do you stand on the debate?
