There are a lot of talented British stars in Hollywood these days and, over the years we have seen a number of actors and actresses quitting successful UK soaps, in a bid to chase their Hollywood dreams. While some of these stars have gone on to become quite successful in the US, there have been plenty more who have headed home after failing to make the impact they would have liked.
British actress Gemma Atkinson has enjoyed a long and successful acting career in the UK, appearing in a number of different television shows along the way. It was recently suggested that Gemma was in the running for the lead role of the new Supergirl series but it now looks like that dream is over, with the actress signing on to play the role of Carly in the UK soap Emmerdale.
Despite obviously being disappointed at having to put her Hollywood dreams on hold, Atkinson is delighted to have joined the cast of Emmerdale, saying, "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of Emmerdale and I cannot wait to see what's in store for Carly. I hope you all enjoy watching her story unfold."
Meanwhile Kate Oates, who is a series producer for Emmerdale, stated that they are delighted to have the actress on board, adding, "I'm delighted to welcome Gemma to the cast, her character Carly is sure to liven things up for Bob and Brenda and anyone who crosses her path."
We hope that this is just a minor setback in the Hollywood dreams of Gemma Atkinson, as we truly believe that, with her acting talents and her stunning looks, she could make a successful career for herself in the US.
