22-year-old defender Eliaquim Mangala is being linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window. The promising young defender, who is valued at around £40 million is one of the hottest young talents in Europe right now.
Manchester United have not made the best start to the season, since replacing veteran manager Sir Alex Ferguson with former Everton boss David Moyes, and defense has been one of the weakest parts of the squad so it would make sense the FC Porto man is on Moyes' radar. It is also rumoured that Manchester City are interested in the 22-year-old but they are apparently more interested in another FC Porto defender, Nicolas Otamendi.
Eliaquim Mangala has made over 150 senior appearances so far, at both FC Porto and at Standard Leige, the club that he transferred from in 2011. He has also made one senior appearance for France in June 2013 against Uruguay. His career is growing stature and he really began to make an impression during the 2012-13 season, which is what put him on Manchester United's radar.
Whether Manchester United will make a move for the FC Porto man in January or wait until the end of the season is unclear but it seems very clear, based on rumors over the last few months, that Eliaquim Mangala is one of David Moyes' primary targets to shore up their defensive issues.
