There have been a number of different occasions over the years, that we have heard talk of there being a possible Venom movie being made but, since the past Spider-Man movies have been less than impressive, it has put a halt to their actually being a Venom movie made, with the worry that it will not live up to expectation and will not pull in the numbers that are needed.
However, with Spider-Man moving over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and getting a good reception in Captain America: Civil War, it seems that Venom is back on the menu, with the latest attempt to get the movie made actually making good progress. The latest word on the Venom project is that Tom Hardy has been cast in the lead role for the film, with Ruben Fleischer on board to direct the project.
Unfortunately, fans are currently split on their opinions of a Tom Hardy starring Venom movie, for a number of reasons. While some fans just simply think he is wrong for the role, there are other important factors to consider. The screenplay for the Venom movie has been penned by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, the same people who wrote The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was awful. Meanwhile, this Venom movie is going to exist in the Sony Marvel Universe, not the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which also has fans concerned that it will just go the same way as those poor Spider-Man films.
With all that said, we are going to cross our fingers and pray that Sony have actually finally learnt some of their lessons from those Spider-Man movies and are going to give the fans the Venom movie that we have all been waiting for.
