Following the success of the hit Marvel movie Ant-Man, it was no surprise that a sequel was going to get made, with the new film titled Ant-Man and the Wasp. Some people have suggested that this new film will once again focus on the Ant-Man, while the Wasp will just be a supporting character, but it seems that this will not be the case.
Actress Evangeline Lilly sees her character Hope Van Dyne taking up the mantle of the Wasp and becoming the latest female superhero to join the Marvel ranks. Director Peyton Reed has been talking about Ant-Man and the Wasp and Peyton has insisted that he wants to make this movie as much about the Wasp as he does Ant-Man.
Reed explained, "For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that's a lot of what the second movie is really about, is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like. To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting."
He added, "We really got to introduce this character into that universe. I mean we've introduced the character, but we haven't seen her with her full power set and everything, so to me she's not a supporting character in this movie. It's every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang's."
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to hit the big screen on June 29, 2018, before then going on the get released in the US on July 6, 2018.
