Charlie Cox is best known as Owen Slater on Boardwalk Empire, but he had a great opportunity to play one of the leads in a new CBS drama pilot called 'The Ordained'. Unfortunately, the show didn't get picked up to series by the network, which means its chances of coming on television have been drastically lowered.

The Ordained revolved around, "Tom, the son of a Kennedy-esque family who leaves the priesthood and becomes a lawyer to prevent his politician sister from being assassinated."
Cox was actually set to take the lead role of Tom, which would have marked his first time headlining a network show. Unfortunately, since the show didn't get picked up by CBS, it's only chances to make it are with cable. The showrunner, Lisa Cullen, recently spoke about the feeling of not getting picked up, and added that there was a small chance of retooling the show to pitch to cable networks.

Cox also will probably get plenty more opportunities to prove his talent, and his first step will be the comedy/drama film 'Hello Carter', releasing in 2013. He stars alongside Laura Donnelly, Paul Schneider, Jodie Whittaker, Antonia Thomas, and Judy Parfitt.
