The African Cup of Nations is one of those International tournaments that can really frustrate a club manager and often have a very big impact on their season, while the tournament takes place. This is because the African Cup of Nations takes place during the football season, meaning many teams will lose players who get called up by the country for the tournament.
The African Cup of Nations 2015 is still a few months away yet and we still have a few more qualifying matches to take place before then. One nation who have pretty much already booked their place in the African Cup of Nations 2015, is Cameroon, who top their group on 10 points, with Ivory Coast and DR Congo both on six points, with two more qualifying matches left.
Cameroon will next face Congolese, on November 15, before finishing their qualifying campaign against Ivory Coast four days later, with Cameroon looking to give International debuts to two promising players. Cameroon coach Volker Finke has decided to call up Patrick Ekeng Ekeng and Adolphe Teikeu for their remaining two qualifying matches.
Patrick Ekeng Ekeng is a midfielder who plays his club football in Spain for La Liga side Cordoba, while Adolphe Teikeu is a defender who plays his club football for Odessa in the Ukraine. It will be interesting to see if these two players can make a mark on the Cameroon squad and if they will enjoy long and successful careers for their country. Watch this space!
