There have been so many different people in Hollywood who have been accused of sexual misconduct of some sort, ever since the huge claims against Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein, and while some of these claims have shown some of these stars to be disgusting and horrible individuals, there have been other claims which have left people wondering what actually constitutes as sexual misconduct.
Hollywood funnyman Aziz Ansari was recently accused of sexual misconduct from an unnamed woman, who claims that he tried to coerce her into sex at his apartment, with the woman later messaging Aziz to let him know how uneasy it all made her feel. This led to Ansari to admit that he was sorry about the situation and it was down to the fact that he had misread what was happening and he did not mean to make her feel this way.
Now, Hollywood funnywoman Amy Schumer, who is good friends with Aziz Ansari, has been talking about these sexual misconduct claims and, rather than speaking out in defence of him, she has actually admitted that she feels for the woman and for all women who find themselves in this sort of situation.
Schumer said, "He's been my friend, and I really feel for the woman. I identify with all the women in these situations. Even if it's my friend, I don't go, 'Oh, but he's a good guy.' I think, 'What would it feel like to have been her?' I don't think anyone wants to see Aziz's career ruined or his life ruined or anything like that, but that's where people's minds go."
She added, "They go, 'Does he deserve this?' And it's really not about that. I think it's about expressing and showing women that that behaviour is not OK, and not only can you leave, but you need to leave. Because then the women who come after you, you're leaving a mark for them too."
While a lot of the recent sexual misconduct claims in Hollywood have been disgusting, it seems that this Aziz Ansari one still has many people split on whether it should be classed as sexual misconduct. What do you think?
