It has definitely been interesting to see these younger versions of our favourite X-Men characters coming to the big screen in the recent X-Men movies, and we are going to get a few more in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse. One of these new young stars we are very much looking forward to seeing, is the actress Alexandra Shipp, who is taking on the role of Ororo Monroe aka Storm, who was originally played by Halle Berry. Alexandra has now opened up about playing the character, teasing what people can expect from the first meeting between Storm and Apocalypse.
Shipp explained, "[You] see me in Cairo, and he’s speaking whatever ancient language because he’s just woken up and I’m speaking Arabic. I’m trying to communicate with him, and then he has this moment where he figures out where he is, what’s happened, what date it is, and he … Apocalypse doesn’t need to say much. All he has to do is just be like, 'I’m here, I’m what you’ve been looking for'."
She added, "And you just feel it right in your gut, and you’re like, 'Right, you are exactly what I’ve been looking for. You are exactly what I need right now.' I think that he can see that, and he could also see the power. I feel like when you’re the most powerful, you’re also the most self-conscious about it. We kind of find each other. Like though the crowd, it all parts and I see his blue face. Then we kind of just like, 'Ah'. There is a moment."
Meanwhile, there has been a lot of talk about what accent we will see Alexandra Shipp using as Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse, with the actress confirming that it will be the Kenyan accent that a lot of people were expecting. We cannot wait to see what Alexandra has to offer in the role, as well as seeing the other new stars that the franchise will bring us in the new film. X-Men: Apocalypse is set to hit the big screen on May 19 in the UK, before then opening in the US on May 27.
